Lien Holder

« Back to Glossary Index

Lien Holder is a lender or entity that legally has an interest in the property until the borrower pays off the mortgage in full.

The lender — which can be a bank, non-bank financial institution or private party — holds a lien, or legal claim, on the property because they lent the money to purchase it.
