Acceleration Clause

Acceleration Clause typically included in a mortgage note, gives the lender the right to immediately demand the full outstanding balance (the principal balance and any accrued interest) of the loan if certain conditions are met. For instance, if the borrower misses a mortgage payment, the lender may be able to accelerate the loan and demand repayment.
